Morgan’s Shoes has been around for 62 years
As a parent, you know how much of a production shoe shopping for your kiddos can be. But if you’ve gone to a place like Morgan’s Shoes in Hilldale Mall, where they will handle the entire sizing, selection, and fitting process for you, you know that all you really have to do is ask questions like, “how do they feel?” and “how high can you jump in them?”
Morgan’s Shoes has been around for 62 years, and as the only Stride Rite affiliated store in the state of Wisconsin, they believe in making the shoe shopping process not only painless, but fun! (The Stride Rite brand has been around since 1919 and offers shoes in different widths, half sizes, and specializes only in children’s shoes.)
Aren’t shoes just shoes? No, not really.
You see, I may only be 37 years old, but I am part of the plantar fasciitis camp; and I’m not a newby to it either. “Plantars” for short, refers to the inflammation that occurs in the thick tissue that connects the heel bone to the ball of the foot area near the toes, thereby creating the arch of the foot. And if you have no idea what I’m talking about, consider yourself lucky. In a nutshell, it’s a kind of pain that limits one’s ability to perform otherwise simple tasks such as walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night (YEAH).
Wide Selection of Name Brand Shoes – for Every Style
The last time I walked into Morgan’s Shoes looking for a pair of semi-casual dress shoes, I explained to the salesperson that I had plantar fasciitis. No further explanation required, they immediately “got it.” I was presented with a pair of orthotics, disguised as shoes. These weren’t just any pair of shoes either, they were NAOT hightops, all leather, with a zip up the side; and the best part – gold glitter! Not exactly the image that comes to mind when you hear the word, “orthotic.” But there I was, sitting pretty and feeling fantastic! It truly was love at first sight, until I tried them on, because then I was married to them. I walked out of the store in them and didn’t take them off until 5 o’clock that night.
Going Above & Beyond
Here’s the real kicker about my experience though – the person who introduced me to this new love of mine, wanted to measure my foot. I was a little taken aback, and perhaps a little embarrassed even. I thought, “Isn’t that just for kids?” Like, I’m a grown woman and I’m pretty sure that my feet have not grown in the past 20+ years. But sure enough, I am not a full size 11 as I’d originally thought I was for all of my teen and adult life to date. I was blown away, and as I was thinking about it, I realized I couldn’t remember when the last time was that someone measured my foot. I mean, I’ve measured my own kids’ feet more times than I can count, and I’ve watched other employees at shoe stores over the years measure their feet, but my feet? It honestly made me feel… special. But also stumped as to how I could have been wearing the wrong size shoes for SO many years!
What happened next is just the cherry on top – as I’m trying on this pair of killer orthotics disguised as glitter hightops, I noticed that the nametag on the shirt of the employee helping me with these shoes says “CEO.” I should clarify, it says “CEO/Pedorthist.” Not only is the CEO of Morgan’s Shoes working on the floor every day, fitting customers for the perfect pair of shoes, he is a Board Certified Pedorthist (a foot pharmacist in other words).
