30 Non-Candy Valentine Ideas

When I was young I can remember loving coming home from school with my Valentine’s Day box. I could not wait to sift through and read all of the cards that my decorated box held.

When my son first started preschool I assumed his Valentine experience would be similar to my own. I had purchased simple Valentine cards for him to give out and called it good. I was shocked when he open up his box and a mountain of candy fell out.

Don’t get me wrong, Valentine’s Day for me did bring the occasional treat, but it seemed to be the exception and not the rule. My son tossed aside most of the cards as I scrambled to harness his desire to indulge in every last piece without even knowing who they were from.

I see nothing wrong with purchasing a simple box of cards, but there is something fun about having your kids put together an extra special treat for their classmates. I have rounded up 30 non-candy ideas for this Valentine’s Day. To make these extra sweet, they are all easy and include a free printable!

  1. Thanks so much for compiling this list, Jessica! I wanted to do something that didn’t involve candy for my son’s 4th grade class; then he came home and said his teacher is banning candy from the valentines. Perfect timing! He’s doing the fortune teller for his classmates and I’m doing the colorful rocks for my teammates. I appreciate you gathering the list of ideas!
