Touring J Henry and Sons in Dane, Wisconsin is an immersive journey into the heart of bourbon craftsmanship and family legacy. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the picturesque countryside and the inviting scent of aging oak barrels. The tour commences with a warm welcome from knowledgeable guides eager to share the story behind J Henry and Sons. Founded by Joe Henry, this distillery is renowned for its handcrafted bourbon, rooted in a heritage dating back to 1891.
As guests traverse the distillery, they witness firsthand the meticulous artistry involved in creating each batch of bourbon. From the selection of locally sourced grains to the carefully monitored fermentation and distillation processes, every step reflects a commitment to quality and authenticity.
Wisconsin Corn
We had the opportunity to experience J. Henry & Sons as part of an event with Wisconsin Corn this past fall. We were joined by a number of Wisconsin farmers and local media, entrepreneurs and influencers and had the opportunity to learn about Wisconsin’s many waterways and how Wisconsin farmers are making an effort to keep our water clean. Wisconsin’s farmers exemplify a dedicated commitment to sustainable practices, fostering cleaner waterways and responsible farming. Embracing innovative techniques like reduced tillage and precision agriculture, they prioritize soil health, minimizing runoff and preserving water quality. Through conservation initiatives, such as buffer strips and cover crops, they mitigate erosion, ensuring healthier ecosystems while maximizing crop yields. Collaborating with experts, these farmers implement cutting-edge technologies to minimize environmental impact, emphasizing a holistic approach to agriculture. Wisconsin’s corn farmers lead by example, embodying a steadfast dedication to sustainable farming practices, nurturing both their crops and the environment for a brighter, greener future.

Tour the Farm
The tours include a bourbon production tour, sensory bourbon nosing & tasting, and cocktail hours for a little escape. The highlight of the tour often lies in the barrel warehouse, where rows of aging barrels impart rich flavors to the bourbon, a testament to the patience and skill integral to the craft.
Tours are offered four days weekly. To maintain a great experience for all, guests should make reservations. Tours and Tastes will sample three expressions of J. Henry & Sons Wisconsin Straight Bourbon Whiskey, as it was meant to be.

VIP Tours
Take a behind-the-scenes deep dive into the bourbon making and take part in the fun! Enjoy a full sensory experience nosing, tasting and working with the bourbons. Identify flavors developed through maturation and environment. Then enjoy a signature seasonal cocktail while you discern why bourbon is meant to be sipped and savored.
Each guest will receive a gift to take home and continue the experience of this personalized tour. Additional cocktails and bottles are available for purchase at the end of your tour. Guests must be 21 or older to participate.
Four person minimum, $100 per person. VIP Tours are offered by appointment only.
