St. Maria Goretti (SMG) is a PreK-8 Catholic School located on the west side of Madison, educating more than 460 students. SMG offers students an environment of high academic standards. Our school motto, “Living in Faith, Growing in Character, Loving Each Other,” is central to every school day. The caring and dedicated staff at SMG strives to support our students in academic and lifelong success, while helping them form bonds with other students that last a lifetime. The teachers guide and support each child toward healthy personal growth, as well as provide students with prayer and worship experiences. There are high expectations for responsibility and kindness, and students are involved in a variety of service projects and community service programs.
The latest technology has been integrated into our school and each classroom has an interactive Smart Board. In addition to our Computer lab, laptops, iPads and Chromebooks are used throughout all grade levels. SMG has a strong academic curriculum that has prepared our students for a successful experience in six different local high schools. Our “Specials” program of Spanish, Music, Art, Computer Education and Physical Education give our students a well-rounded educational opportunity. We recognize and value the partnership that parents and teachers have in the successful education of all students, as well as the active support from our parish.

Testimonials:
“Our family chose to transfer from an area public school to St. Maria Goretti two years ago. The staff at SMG is committed to the scholastic achievements of every student and focused on guiding their emotional, moral, intellectual and spiritual needs. We have been incredibly impressed with how welcomed we were into the school community, and how active and supportive all of the families are. It has been a very easy transition and a decision we are very glad to have made for our children and their future.”

“Middle School at SMG gave my kids a tremendous foundation for high school academically, socially and personally. They felt ahead of their peers in Spanish and math, and they learned good basics about essay writing. They had already developed great study habits and time management skills going into those critical high school years. Beyond academics, the focus on values, kindness and respect that is lived out daily at SMG has given them a great basis for success in high school and beyond.”

“Our family moved to Madison 3 and 1/2 years ago. When we came to look at schools, we had never stepped foot in SMG. As soon as we walked into the school we had a “feeling” about it – that it was the right place for our family. Our boys have thrived at SMG. The students and staff strive for excellence daily – academically, spiritually, and socially. One of the things we are most impressed with (and our boys love) are the “specials” classes at the school. The Art and Music programs have blown us away. When our son came home from school in Kindergarten and told us he was learning about Beethoven we were very, very impressed. SMG is a very welcoming and caring community. The school has truly become our “family” here in Madison.”
