Take Flight | New Attraction at The Wilderness Resort (Open to the Public)

(Wisconsin Dells, WI): Last weekend my family and I went to the Wilderness Resort for a quick getaway. We were SO excited to check out the new Take Flight attraction at the Wilderness. A few years ago I had the opportunity to do a similar ride when I was away on a work trip and knew it was something that my three kids would LOVE. So when I saw that Take Flight was opening so close to Madison, I knew we needed to get up there to try it out.

Take Flight is the first flying theater of its kind in the Dells giving guests the sensation of flight as your seat actually moves to enhance your experience. You will soar over the United States from a birds eye view/aerial perspective. Your feet will dangle as you ‘fly’, you may even feel a slight mist as you soar over our beautiful country. All three of my kids (and my husband) loved the experience. My 6 year old had a permanent smile (under her mask!) for the entire ride. And as soon as it was over – she begged to do it again.

It’s an incredible experience with amazing technology. Take Flight is NOW OPEN and is open to the public (not just for guests of the Wilderness). They are following Covid safety precautions and masks are required.

Take Flight is located at 511 E Adams St, Wisconsin Dells and will be open from 9 am to 11 pm on weekends and from 9 am to 10 pm on weekdays and riders must be at least 42″ tall. Children will need to be accompanied by an adult or guardian.

Beginning April 8th at Take Flight, they will be featuring:
New Ice Age: No Time For Nuts – The Ride

Fun Pass

We stayed at The Wilderness and with the FUN PASS we were able to enjoy unlimited admission to:

  • NEW! Lost Cabin Laser Tag (my 6 year old son’s favorite!)
  • Northern Lights Sky Ropes Course (my 8 year old daughter’s favorite!)
  • NEWLY UPDATED! Wild Abyss Black-Light Mini Golf
  • Wilderwoods Indoor Go-Karts

DOA Room Escape

We also had our first escape room experience. DOA Room Escape (also on The Wilderness property) is a heart-pumping, adrenaline-laced, interactive experience. You are locked in a room with friends and family (occasionally strangers) and are on a mission to escape the room.

Once the door is locked, you have a limited amount of time (30-60 minutes depending on the room) to put your brains together to find clues, solve puzzles, crack lock combinations and decipher riddles in order to find the ‘key’ to escape before time is up.

Since my kids are a little younger (6, 6 and 8) we did ‘The Circus’ which was totally age appropriate for them! They got very into it and were eager to solve the puzzles and clues. We managed to get out just as time was running down… we can’t wait to try another room next time!

DOA escape room themes are based on real life historical events, which makes them extra fun!

This summer, the resort completely redid its New Frontier entrance and created
a stunning, new modern lobby featuring three-story cathedral ceilings and floor-to-
ceiling windows on three sides of the space. Cozy seating, a convenience store, three
party rooms and additional check in stations. Earlier this year, the Wilderness also opened Camp Social which serves up a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner options as The Burger Bar, a full‐service bar serving up a small menu of great burgers; the Coffee Canteen, serving locally-sourced Bella Goose coffee, teas, smoothies and doughnuts; and The Candy Cabin, where guests can satisfy their sweet tooth with unique candy and ice cream innovations!

*Be sure to check out Covid rules for attractions (we wore our masks the entire time we were outside of our room) and appreciated knowing that they had extra cleaning procedures and precautions throughout the property and attractions.

Madison Family
Madison is such a cool city. We love it around here. We live here too and our vision is to create a platform where real parents share real stories and we can all learn from one another. You will get to know real moms doing life right here in our neighborhoods and find information on a wealth of topics – local summer camps, preschools, swim lessons, shops and boutiques, events and experiences as so much more.
