Vacation Style 101

It’s here, it’s here, it’s here! Spring is finally here! Our frozen Wisconsin tundra is beginning to thaw, the sun is shining and spring break is only a few weeks away. With spring break comes the start of vacation season. If you’re  planning a family trip this spring or summer I have some great looks for the whole gang! Bon Voyage!

Toddler Vacation Cool

Toddlers have a style all their own…I call it messy chic. Having the right items on vacation for your little ones can make all the difference. A tankini is perfect for toddler girls, makes diaper changes and/or potty training easier. Waterproof sandals that cover the toe are super practical – kids can run in them, swim in them and even spill ice cream on them and they wipe clean. I think it has rained on every vacation we have ever taken therefore, I love packable rain jackets. They fold up into a pouch, making them easy to toss in the suitcase, beach bag, etc. Don’t forget a small bag for them to pack a few things – if nothing else it keeps them busy while you pack.

Big Kid Style

Kids need practical yet fun clothes for vacation. Watches are perfect for older kids….”meet us back at the lounge chairs at 3:00pm”. Waterproof shoes are fun and practical for almost any activity. Denim jackets are always in style and even if your big kids refuse to admit they need a jacket they love to look cool, win-win.

Mama on Holiday

Mom needs to look and feel good on vacation too. Whether you’re trading in your yoga pants or suit pants vacation is the perfect time to have a little fun with your wardrobe. I love that rash guards are in style and everywhere this season. They are so flattering (and warm for those ice cold waterparks). No matter how I feel about my bikini on a given day if I have my rash guard I have no worries. A maxi dress is possibly the most perfect vacation clothing item. It works as a swim cover-up, a casual daytime outfit or a dressy diner outfit. Some other great vacation accessories include a wallet that you can fit your phone in – no need to carry your beach bag everywhere. Don’t forget a foldable pair of flats, you’ll get through airport security in a flash (just kidding you’re a mom traveling with your family, but the flats will help).

Dad Recreation Style

Dad needs some vacation style too. Whatever Dad’s job is, it can sometimes be hard to disconnect and change to vacation mode. Help him leave work at home with a fun phone case and a waterproof watch. Polos are perfect for vacation, they work for every event. Don’t forget a backpack so dad can help carry stuff too!
