Drinks, Dinner & A Movie All Under One Roof | Date Night at Marcus Palace Cinema

As parents, sometimes convenience is a necessity…same goes for date night! Since we don’t have family in the area or a slew of babysitters to choose from, our nights out need to be well planned so we can soak up every minute of our treasured adult-time together. Recently, my husband and I had a date night at the Marcus Palace Cinema in Sun Prairie where we got it all… drinks, dinner and a movie all under one roof!

Being that it was our first time at this location, we were surprised to see the Take Five Lounge, a full-sized bar inside the theater. We were also super impressed with the wide assortments of beer, wine, top-shelf liquor and signature cocktails such as the Mixed Berry Sangria and the Mango Mojito! As we enjoyed our drinks in the relaxing lounge atmosphere, we got lost in conversation (as we tend to do) and almost forgot we were actually in a movie theater.

After our drinks, we headed to the Big Screen Bistro auditorium. Of the Palace’s four Big Screen Bistros, we were seated in the auditorium that featured the SuperScreen DLX experience. Super-sized screen, immersive sound, extremely comfortable, heated, reclining seats with individual tables… it was awesome! Normally, when I think of being at a movie theater, I think of popcorn and candy. Don’t get me wrong, they DO have plenty of that but they also have a full menu of food that we were able to order and enjoy right in our seats! I am pretty health conscious (most of the time) so I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of healthier options I had to choose from including the Mexi-Chicken Bowl and variety of salads. However, that doesn’t mean we didn’t indulge in the AMAAAZING wonton-wrapped mozzarella sticks! Those are worth falling off any diet for!

We saw the movie A Star is Born (excellent, by the way) and the sound was unbelievable! It truly sounded like we were at a live concert during moments of the movie making the experience of connecting to the film that much better.

I highly recommend Palace Cinema! Not only will we plan future date nights at Palace Cinema, we will also bring our movie-loving 6-year-old daughter back with us as well! With $5 Tuesdays, $6 Student Thursdays, year-round offerings like the Kids Dream Family Film Series and the Magical Movie Rewards program, going to the movies can be an affordable activity for even a larger family! Thank you for having us, Palace Cinema!

  1. We’ve been trying to schedule monthly date nights so we have a chance to connect with each other and prioritize our relationship. We miss months…like October! Winning date night at the Palace would be great incentive to make sure we don’t miss November!! Plus I really want to see The Hate U Give…A Star is Born was excellent!!

  2. What is a movie theater? I don’t even remember what that is anymore?!? A relaxing night away with drinks and talking with my husband before a movie sounds so great! I cant remember the last time we ate dinner together without a crying child! Thanks for the opportunity to enter the contest!

  3. Sounds like a great time! My husband and I haven’t been on a date in such a long time, it would be a fantastic opportunity for us to attend before baby #3 arrives in a month!

  4. Time without kids… in comfy chairs, full belly, and a glass of wine… they will have to kick me out after the credits are done.

  5. Without family or a regular babysitter in the area, in order to go in a date my husband and I both take a day of vacation and day-date while daycare is in session :o) That still counts, right?!

  6. We are in the same boat with no family around. With a husband that has been traveling like crazy for work and every spare minute he actually gets is spent working on the farm, we could really use a night out!!
