As parents, sometimes convenience is a necessity…same goes for date night! Since we don’t have family in the area or a slew of babysitters to choose from, our nights out need to be well planned so we can soak up every minute of our treasured adult-time together. Recently, my husband and I had a date night at the Marcus Palace Cinema in Sun Prairie where we got it all… drinks, dinner and a movie all under one roof!
Being that it was our first time at this location, we were surprised to see the Take Five Lounge, a full-sized bar inside the theater. We were also super impressed with the wide assortments of beer, wine, top-shelf liquor and signature cocktails such as the Mixed Berry Sangria and the Mango Mojito! As we enjoyed our drinks in the relaxing lounge atmosphere, we got lost in conversation (as we tend to do) and almost forgot we were actually in a movie theater.
After our drinks, we headed to the Big Screen Bistro auditorium. Of the Palace’s four Big Screen Bistros, we were seated in the auditorium that featured the SuperScreen DLX experience. Super-sized screen, immersive sound, extremely comfortable, heated, reclining seats with individual tables… it was awesome! Normally, when I think of being at a movie theater, I think of popcorn and candy. Don’t get me wrong, they DO have plenty of that but they also have a full menu of food that we were able to order and enjoy right in our seats! I am pretty health conscious (most of the time) so I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of healthier options I had to choose from including the Mexi-Chicken Bowl and variety of salads. However, that doesn’t mean we didn’t indulge in the AMAAAZING wonton-wrapped mozzarella sticks! Those are worth falling off any diet for!
We saw the movie A Star is Born (excellent, by the way) and the sound was unbelievable! It truly sounded like we were at a live concert during moments of the movie making the experience of connecting to the film that much better.
I highly recommend Palace Cinema! Not only will we plan future date nights at Palace Cinema, we will also bring our movie-loving 6-year-old daughter back with us as well! With $5 Tuesdays, $6 Student Thursdays, year-round offerings like the Kids Dream Family Film Series and the Magical Movie Rewards program, going to the movies can be an affordable activity for even a larger family! Thank you for having us, Palace Cinema!

We need a date night because it’s hard to have a conversation longer than 30 seconds with a 5 year old and 1 year old around!
Haven’t had a date night in nearly a year! Why? Same answer as everyone else…Kids! ???????????? #burntout
My husband and I would love to win ???? we haven’t been to a movie in years.
The last movie that I saw in theatres was La La Land. Get me out.
I don’t know the last time we went on a date. We sure could use a night away ????
We are in sore need of a date night ourselves! Baby #3 is six months old… our last date night was the night before she was born. In between baby duty, we’re getting deeper into the parent as chauffeur role getting our older kids to various activities. We haven’t managed to find time for ourselves in awhile!
Because we can’t afford the movies AND a sitter!
We’re getting married on the 26th, but don’t get to have a honeymoon, so a nice date night sounds amazing!
We’ve been married 16 years and have a wonderful kid but I just realized that I can’t remember the last time I went to see a movie without my child. Wow, we go on family dates!?
Do those count as dates? ????
We haven’t had a date night in a long time, and this would be right up our ally!
