Local Sweets + Treats | In and Around Madison, WI

It’s hot. It’s summer. It’s time to cool off and enjoy something sweet. Gather your family and check out some of these local spots full of goodies made on site. Most are open, some require masks, but all ask that you practice physical distancing.

Babcock Hall Dairy Store– serving locally made ice cream. Delicious!

Bloom Bake Shop – this bright bakeshop with homey accents offers housemade cupcakes, donuts & biscuit sandwiches.

Calliope Ice Cream– locally made spicy and unique ice cream. New tenant at the Garver Feed Mill. 

Candinas Chocolatier– locally made delicious chocolates located in Verona. 

Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream– locally made ice cream and treats since 1962. There are multiple locations throughout the city. Often sold at local restaurants as well. 

Clasen’s European Bakery– locally, handmade candy, pastries, cakes and breads. 

Daisy Cafe and Cupcakery – quaint cafe & bakery serving comfort food & creative cupcake flavors in a family-friendly setting.

Gale Ambrosius Chocolatier– praised as one of the top 10 chocolatiers of North America by Dessert Professional. You won’t want to miss it!

Gigi’s Cupcakes– beautifully decorated, locally made cupcakes. Yum!

Hubbard Ave Diner– known for pies, but they also make milkshakes, malts, sundaes and delicious cookies and cakes. 

Icki Sticki – shaved ice, ice cream and coffee in Mt. Horeb and Verona.

Infusion Chocolates– delicious and interesting flavor profile chocolates. 

J. Lauber’s Ice Cream Parlor– any interest in a road trip? Located in East Troy, WI, this shop will take you back in time to the 1920s. Traditional treats, candies and even a jukebox. 

Kona Ice of Madison– Kona Ice Truck offering snowballs (if you’re from the south) or snow cones (if you’re from the north). 

La Baguette– a classic french bakery offering crepes, eclairs, macaroons, and fresh breads all made in house. Take a quick trip to Paris!

La Brioche true food– in house made pastries, cookies, cakes, and breads.

Michael’s Frozen Custard– a classic custard shop with outdoor seating. There are multiple locations throughout the city. Enjoy!

Pete’s Pops– unique flavored popsicles. Locally made in Milwaukee, WI, although their food carts make frequent trips to Madison and are often present during farmer’s markets. Available to cater events. 

Sassy Cow Creamery– visit the farm in Columbus, WI to see the milk and ice cream being made. Retail purchase available on site. 

Villa Dolce– classic Italian desserts and gelato! Tons of outdoor seating.
