Monona Grove Nursery School has been a fixture on the Eastside of Madison since 1968. Our school started as, and remains, a Parent Cooperative preschool. Our home/school partnerships are a pillar of our community. We believe that children learn best in a play-based environment where the focus is on social/emotional development, social skills, and joy.

Flexible Schedule
MGNS offers part-day, part-week preschool classes for kids 2.75-4. In addition, we are an
MMSD 4K site offering either morning or afternoon 4K classes through the Madison School District. Our youngest friends, ages 0-3, can join us in our famous Toddler Time Program when they bring along a parent or caregiver.
On a typical day, our preschool and 4K kids spend time outside, have a small snack, a couple of group times, and spend the bulk of their time exploring and playing in a classroom carefully curated by their teachers to engage, delight, and challenge their comfort and imagination.
Parent Cooperative Preschool
In a typical year, parents spend a few days each semester in our classroom being a part of the class, helping with projects and snack, and spending the day with their child. We value this partnership and warmly welcome these family members into our community. In addition, parents can serve on our board of directors, and on other committees to support the school in a variety of ways.
Highly Qualified Teachers + 5 Star Youngstar School
Our teachers all have a 4-year degree, many with an emphasis on early childhood education, elementary education, or special education. We are licensed by the state of Wisconsin and accredited by the City of Madison. We are a 5-Star Youngstar School.
Most of all, our staff loves to be with kids. Our halls and classrooms are a celebration of young children. We love to watch them explore and learn, creating and imagining their own projects, and asking questions along the way. We believe that kids learn best through experience, and we hope to provide the experiences that teach kids the joy of learning.
