2019 New Year’s Eve Events + Activities in Madison, WI | For Families

There are lots of fun ways to celebrate New Year’s Eve and to ring in 2020 with your family in Madison, WI! If we missed something, please comment below and we will be sure to add it. And on January 1st at 4 PM the Badgers will be taking on Oregon in the Rose Bowl — the Rose Bowl Parade is really spectacular to watch as well. Cheers to a New Year!

Celebrate the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 with dancing, activities, and refreshments! All ages! Throughout the library.


Olbrich’s Holiday Express | Olbrich Gardens

10 AM – 4 PM

All aboard for Olbrich’s Holiday Express! Large-scale model trains wind through a holiday scene overflowing with hundreds of poinsettias, fresh evergreen! During the show, members of the Wisconsin Garden Railway Society come from all over the state to show off their large-scale model trains. You may see a bullet train, steam train, Santa train, circus train, or freight train, depending on the day.

Admission $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 3 to 12, children 2 and under are free. Free for Olbrich Botanical Society members. Admission to the tropical Bolz Conservatory is included.


NYE Party for Kids | Hy-Vee

11 AM – 1 PM | Hy-Vee Fitchburg

We are celebrating NYE a little early, NOON that is, on 12/31.

Your kids will have a chance and come out to ring in the new year in style. We will be in the Market Grille for some snacks and fun kids games, then at NOON we will have a balloon drop!


My Family NYE Party | Keva

2 PM – 8 PM

Join us for a night of family FUN on December 31st from 2:00- 8:00 pm. There will be Open Play Sports, Phoam Phights, Author Angie & Ben Buelow of Goodnight Madison, Chick-Fil-A Cow, Inflatables, a balloon artist, David Landau Music show, interactive play with Infinity Martial Arts, a photo booth sponsored by Dental Health Associates, and a mock countdown at 7:30!


NYE Afternoon Dance Party | Madison Children’s Museum

2:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Are your little ones not quite ready to stay up until midnight? Shake, rattle, roll, and bid farewell to 2019 at the most bedtime-routine-friendly New Year’s Eve party in Madison.

Dance to the beats provided by our DJ beginning at 2:30 pm, with your choice of two confetti filled, early New Year’s countdowns at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., complete with glow bracelets, sparkling juice, and Auld Lang Syne.


Madison Family Eve | Monona Terrace

4 PM – 7:30 PM

David Dill Productions is excited to announce that the annual family-friendly New Years’ Eve celebration will continue in Downtown Madison Wisconsin. The event dates back to 29 years.

Madison Family Eve Presented by UnityPoint Health-Meriter is scheduled to include the ever-popular T.J. Howell juggling and comedy, James the Magician, My Circus with Rumpus Circus, Infinity Martial Arts, Badgerbots Lego Robots, Children’s inflatables presented by Festival Foods, Coloring area presented by Reach a Child and more with a countdown and balloon drop at 7:30 pm!
