In their vision statement, it states: “Finding the right commitment level for each student and celebrating their individual dance choices, be it recreational, educational, or competitive, is of great value to us. We understand that only a small portion of our student body continues on to dance professionally; therefore, our larger responsibility is to teach lessons beyond just the dance steps: life lessons. We aspire to help each student achieve their personal best.” The teachers strive to create well-rounded dancers and maintain a positive Vibe, or environment, as well as lasting and meaningful relationships with dance families.

ConfiDANCE

A program within Vibe, called ConfiDANCE, is a welcoming and inclusive dance program. Its goal is to provide people with diverse abilities a place to gain confidence, develop new skills and build new relationships through music and movement.

The founder of this program, Sarah Jacobson, witnessed a huge need in our community for adaptive recreational activities and wanted to create an alternative, safe, yet fun environment for kids and teens who find it difficult to participate in regular dance classes. Sarah consults regularly with a qualified occupational therapist (Sara Villarreal OTD/OTR/L), to continue to gain knowledge regarding the various diagnoses and conditions of the students she works with. This enables her to design her dance classes in a way that can go above and beyond to bring positive benefits to each child that participates. Sarah is also a Rhythm Works Integrative instructor.

ConfiDANCE classes qualify for county waiver funding (CLTS) and families are encouraged to contact their case worker if they are interested in this option.

All classes are offered throughout the school year. Adaptive classes meet every Monday at 4-4:30pm and require registration, while our ConfiDANCE 1 and 2 classes are ‘drop in’ and meet two Saturday mornings a month. Virtual options are also available during this time.

More information on ConfiDANCE classes and how to sign up can be found at www.confidancemadison.com.
