We realize that all children are unique and we strive to give the best pediatric dentistry possible for your child.

BRAND NEW KIDS CLUB!

As most of us are parents ourselves, we also understand that taking children to the dentist is not always an easy feat. Kids can be nervous or fearful of what may happen at their appointments, which is why we created a NEW program for all of our young patients.

We are proud to introduce Madison Family Dental “Kids Club,” which rewards our youngest patients (ages 3-12) for their awesome dental health. Every year (or every other check-up), they will be rewarded with fun goodies and prizes for being cavity-free, brave during an appointment or displaying good dental hygiene habits. If kids are cavity-free for the entire year, they will be entered to win a yearly drawing for a big prize! On top of earning prizes, our kids club is also educational. We share tips and tricks to keep their teeth healthy, all while having fun doing it. Not only is this program designed to make kids excited for the dentist, but it will also help parents make the process easier on them!

TIPS FROM AN EXPERT!

On top of getting your kids excited for the Kids Club, follow these tips to help calm their nerves before their next (or first) appointment!

  1. Follow a routine. If your child routinely brushes and flosses and goes to the dentist every six months, their appointments are much more likely to be painless, simple and easy! They will understand that upholding a routine keeps their teeth clean and healthy.
  2. Talk to your child. Before your visit, answer any questions your child has to ease their fears. Explain the process in simple terms without using words such as “pain,” “hurt” or “uncomfortable” that could associate the dentist with a bad experience.
  3. Use imagination. You can help your child prepare for appointments by playing “dentist” with them at home. Help play dentist by counting your child’s teeth and using a toothbrush for a pretend cleaning. They can also role-play on a stuffed animal or doll.
  4. Bring a “friend.” Allowing your child to bring a favorite toy to calm their nerves during the visit can be helpful. Bringing a stuffed animal to hold will help them feel more comfortable in an unfamiliar place.
  5. Don’t worry. As a parent, the best thing you can do is not worry about your child during a checkup. It’s perfectly normal to be nervous about how your child will act at their visit, but by showing them you are calm, they are more likely to follow suit.
