BIKE THE ‘BURG CHALLENGE RETURNS FOR 2026 SEASON

Pedal Into the Season with the 2026 Bike The ‘Burg Challenge

(Fitchburg, WI):Cyclists of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in the 2026 Bike The ‘Burg Challenge, a growing community initiative that encourages riders to stay active while exploring the scenic beauty of Fitchburg and Dane County.

Hosted by the Fitchburg Chamber Visitor + Business Bureau, the free challenge invites participants to bike 150 miles—or more—between April and September 2026. Open to beginners and experienced cyclists alike, the program offers a flexible and engaging way to enjoy the outdoors throughout the spring and summer months.

A Community Tradition on the Rise

Since its launch in 2021, the Bike The ‘Burg Challenge has steadily grown in both participation and enthusiasm, becoming a seasonal favorite across the area. Participants who register are automatically entered into prize drawings throughout the season, featuring items and experiences from local businesses.

Fitchburg’s extensive biking infrastructure makes it an ideal setting for the challenge. With access to three of Wisconsin’s premier bike trails and multiple local paths, riders have ample opportunity to explore a variety of routes while working toward their mileage goals.

Promoting Health, Wellness, and Connection

The 2026 Bike The ‘Burg Challenge is sponsored by Fitchburg Family Pharmacy and The Cesta, an Illuminus Community—both of which are committed to supporting healthy, active lifestyles.

Thad Schumacher, owner of Fitchburg Family Pharmacy, emphasized the importance of accessible exercise and community engagement, noting that cycling plays a valuable role in overall health and well-being.

Stephanie Burris, Executive Director of The Cesta, highlighted the broader impact of the initiative, explaining that supporting Bike The ‘Burg aligns with efforts to promote active, independent living—particularly for older adults. The program also reflects a shared commitment to fostering connection and accessibility through outdoor recreation.

Brewery Ride Returns June 6 🍻

Returning by popular demand, Fitchburg’s Brewery Ride will take place on June 6. This organized 18-mile ride guides participants through Fitchburg with planned stops at local breweries, offering a social and scenic cycling experience.

The ride is organized in collaboration with Bike Fitchburg and serves as a highlight event within the broader Bike The ‘Burg Challenge.

Supporting a Meaningful Cause

New in 2026, the challenge will partner with Cycling Without Age – Fitchburg Chapter, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing cycling experiences for individuals who are unable to ride independently.

Proceeds from sales of the 2026 Bike The ‘Burg commemorative t-shirt, along with funds raised from the Brewery Ride, will directly support the organization’s mission of creating meaningful and accessible outdoor experiences for older adults.
