HOW ONE LOCAL FAMILY UTILIZES SSM HEALTH EXPRESS VIRTUAL CARE TO SAVE MONEY & TIME

Nelli and her husband are running an electrical contracting business and raising their young family in a community south of Madison. They love small town living and the life they’ve built, though they do have to travel for some things.

“Our family of six includes my husband and four daughters – two in middle school and two in elementary school – as well as a barn cat named Mr. Muldoon,” says Nelli, who often drove to Madison for healthcare. “For years, we traveled a distance for in-person doctor visits, which wasn’t always easy.”

Express Virtual Care

Driving to Madison to see a provider took a lot of time and was disruptive to the work and school day for everyone, but when Nelli heard about the cost savings when using Express Virtual Care, she thought it was worth trying.

“The biggest benefit for our family is the super low cost. Being self-employed, we have a high deductible health plan (HDHP) and pay out of pocket for most visits, so we save at least $100 per visit by using Express Virtual Care. Our family is typically pretty healthy, but we seem to always get that annual sinus infection, pink eye or other mild concern that warrants a visit with a healthcare provider. With six of us in the house, we’d be at the doctor’s office every week while the bug worked its way through everyone in the house!”

With e-Visits, Nelli can easily complete a questionnaire to identify symptoms, send photos if needed and receive a quick diagnosis from the comfort of her kitchen or office. Then, prescriptions are routed to her pharmacy of choice.

Saves Time & Money

“We’re on our way to feeling better the very same day without having to disrupt our schedule. This tool saves me time and money, and I recommend it to all my friends.”

Video Visit Option

Nelli says she’s glad to know they have access to a provider by Video Visit if or when they need it. So far, they have only used the e-Visit option and recently, it came in handy.

“Without fail, my kids get a back-to-school cold the third week of school. This year, everyone made it through without lingering trouble except for one of my daughters. Her symptoms seemed to improve after a few days, but then it came back just as we were about to take a 14-hour road trip for a family reunion. Once I realized she likely had a sinus infection, we were a day away from leaving, so I completed the e-Visit questionnaire at 6:00am and had a diagnosis and prescription in hand by 9:00am. She was able to start medication before we left and feel better as we hit the road. It was so convenient to not have to make an appointment with a local provider. And for $39!”

Nelli says she continually recommends the service to all her friends and family because it’s fast and easy.

“The convenience of being able to submit an e-Visit at nearly any hour of the day, 6am-11pm is pretty great! There’s almost always a wait involved with making in-person provider appointments or visiting urgent care. With e-Visits, I spend 10 to 15 minutes on the questionnaire and can move on with my life until the notification with provider notes arrives in my inbox and via text. This service saves me time and money, both of which are a hot commodity when raising a family.”
