Apple Pinecones

This is a fun recipe that is almost too pretty to eat. I said “almost” because one bite and you’ll gobble them up.  A perfect recipe with kids!  We made them this summer at the cooking camp I taught and they were a huge hit, such a fun way to use their creativity.

Almond Pinecones- 12 Months+

Ingredients:

 2 large Apples
1/4 cup Almond Butter (Or Sunflower Butter for nut-free version)
1/2 cup Sliced Almonds (Or Sunflower Seeds for a nut-free version)
Celery, thin sliced
Pretzels Wash the apples and slice vertically (to make pinecone shapes). Spread with almond butter on each slice and top with a pretzel.  Cover in almonds and celery and enjoy!  Makes about 15-20 pinecones.
