Jenny is a Madison transplant from Winona, MN, with imaginative and talkative twin boys Cameron and Carson, born November 2010, and one very old kitten Arabella, born March 2003, and one very young kitten JoJo, born May 2018. Her husband is a Madison native and suckered her in to staying. She graduated in 2001 from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a bachelor's degree in English Literature, currently working in financial services full-time and writing in her scant spare time when inspiration strikes. She tentatively blogs, with brutal honesty, on whippedcreamandkittens.com and frequently Instagrams. Besides whipped cream and kittens, she loves reading, writing, coffee, wine, cooking, traveling, movies, and spending time with family and close friends. Jenny is thrilled to be on the Madison Moms Blog team and happy to share her wacky and sarcastic tales of Madison momhood.

What If This Were Your Last Year?

What would you do if you found out you had one year left to live, non-negotiable? Would you smother your children and family with so much love that they scrambled away from you? Would you make...

I Hate Being The Momager, But I Cannot Help Myself

Let me begin by stating, I am far from perfect. I am not a neat person. I am pretty careless about putting my things back in their proper place or organization in general. I...

I Used To Be That Mom

I see you moms out there with your young children, enjoying all sorts of family-friendly activities. I see the joy on your faces as you watch the joy on theirs. Excuse me if I...

Not a Summer-Loving Mom

I don't love summer. I'm (again) in the minority, I'm sure. Here in the Midwest, it's hot and humid, both of which make me ornery. It's mosquito-y. The sun rises early, which I am...

Pros and Cons of Having Twins

Nine years ago, on April Fool's Day no less, I found out I was pregnant with twins. It was the happiest surprise I have ever received. Certainly I didn't think we would be proud...

When Your Parenting Partner Leaves (Temporarily, For a Work Trip)

A fun and not-at-all-stressful thing that happens sometimes is my husband traveling for about a week for work. He used to do this once a year when the kids were preschoolers, and lately it's...

To All the Moms

To the moms who don't have the babies they wished for To the moms who have babies they didn't plan for To the moms who didn't birth their own babies To the moms whose babies are better...

Bringing Home a New (Fur) Baby

After years of half-jokingly pleading with my husband for another kitten, I was shocked and amazed last summer when he agreed to let me bring home a new furry family member. Having decided against...

At This Age

You are still innocent. I feel we are on the cusp of your childhood turning a little sour, of you maturing at a faster speed than I'd like. I have to pause and appreciate the...

Raising Children Outside the Box

My children are half-Asian and half-Caucasian. They are 100% American. They were born here in Madison, WI, the same city where their father was born. They cheer for the Badgers and the Packers (but...

What No One Tells You

Ahhhh, unsolicited advice. Nothing like it. I have received more than enough as a parent. When I was pregnant, if I had a mere penny for every time I was told "You should get your...

I’m the Mom Who Doesn’t Craft with Her Kids

Yep, that's me. Sorry, not sorry. Crafting gives me anxiety. There, I said it. It's such a relief to have it out there. Please don't send me hate mail. Just thinking about glue, glitter, glittery...
