Meet Jamie

familyBeing creative and helping people is what I was called to do! I look back on my career as a cosmetologist and how I helped clients feel good about their hair. Life changed when I got married and moved 14 hours away from home and it took an even bigger turn when our first daughter was born with Spina Bifida. We found a nurse to provide in-home care so I could continue to work. Just after her first birthday, we decided it would be best for our family if I stayed home. Two years later, we moved to Madison. With everything going on in our family, I found it hard to meet other moms and mostly stayed at home. I thought about going back to work, but with a daughter with special needs and a 1-year-old, working outside the home wasn’t an option. Don’t get me wrong, I love being at home with our daughters, and there is plenty to do. I cook- sometimes. I clean- eventually. I change diapers- all the time. But I lost my creative drive. When Alisa and I first met, she mentioned wanting to start Madison Moms Blog. She was very motivated and was looking for the right partner. Although I didn’t give it much thought at first, after reflecting on how hard it had been for me to find a place for myself in Madison, I became excited about connecting moms with our community and each other. Being a mom is hard work! It can be messy and amazing and lonely and incredible- and sometimes it’s just flat out gross! I just want to let you know that- whatever you’re going through- YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Jamie Lacey
Jamie married her high school sweetheart in June 2007. Originally from Iowa, they moved out east for a few years, but couldn’t wait to get back to the Midwest! She's a hairstylist turned stay-at-home-mom to their daughters, 5-year-old Charlotte, 2-year-old Emma and baby Hazel. If you run into Jamie around town, you're sure to find her girls in matching outfits from head to toe! During naptime, she enjoys searching for her next DIY project on Pinterest. She has an unhealthy obsession for ice cream, chocolate, and candy! Shopping, date nights, discovering new local restaurants, baking, party planning, road trips, and spending time with friends and family are just a few things that Jamie loves to do!
